Mission Statement

The mission of the Branford Professional Fire Department is to protect the community and property by devoting time and skill to incident response, public education, and code enforcement. The goal of the department is to provide the highest level of care not only as firemen but also as members of the community. As a service driven organization, it is our mission and number one priority to deliver the best care possible.

Core Values

We will be professional in developing, implementing and evaluating policy and practice, as well as in our personal interacitons with others. We will seek to maintain an appropriate balance between community, city, department, and individual priorities.

Community Service & Education

We will provide quality life safety, health care, property conservation, and environmental perservation for our community in a safe, timely, and effective manner. We will work to continually improve our knowledge of the profession and our individual and collective performances.
Honor, Integrity & Teamwork We will inspire each other through pride in our unit, with a belief that every action reflects on all the members of the unit, both past and present. We will treat our community and each other with respect and courtesy at all times. Only through constructive actions, comments, suggestions, and an openess to new ideas will our team goals and objective be met. “We” rather than “I” shall be the prevailing attitude and practice.

A commitment to the objectives of our mission is an essential part of our code of conduct. The faithful observance of duty calls for us to fulfill our obligations professionally, honestly, and requires excellence of character.

To Serve and Protect Branford Fire Department has a long history dating back to the late 1800’s. It was a volunteer organization for 65 years. The first seven career firemen, previously volunteers, were hired in October of 1963. As training and staff increased the Branford Ambulance Department was added in 1992, making up the Branford Fire Department of today.
