Tractor Trailer Roll Over

November 8, 2014 Engine 1, Medic 2, Rescue 1, Car 6 were dispatched to I-95 exit 55 ramp to E. Main street for a tractor trailer roll over. Upon arrival units found T.T. over on the driver’s side with the trailer between off and on ramps collapsing the guard rail. The sole occupant of the T.T. was outside of the truck sitting up complaining of various injuries.

2 Alarm House Fire

Firefighters responded to 8 Heritage Hill Rd just before 10pm this evening (10/31/2014). The fire was in this raised ranch and was fueled by natural gas. Fire crews had to wait for the gas company to secure the leak. The occupants were uninjured.

109 Mill Plain Rd.

The Branford Fire Department responded to 109 Mill Plain Rd. this afternoon at 4:48pm.  Upon arrival there was heavy fire visible from the second floor of two story “Colonial” style home.  The occupants had escaped the fire unharmed.  Fire crews from Engine-1 entered the structure and found heavy fire conditions on the second floor.

Congratulations Captain Rebmann!

Congratulations to Mike Rebmann on his promotion to the rank of Captain of Training. Mike Became a Captain after many years in the fire service, most of them with the Branford Fire Department. Mike started out as an explorer with the B.F.D. in 1986. Mike became a Firefighter in 1987 with volunteer Engine 9 and Rescue 1, growing to the rank of Lieutenant.

Mark brings not only 9 years of Branford Fire experience but 27 years overall in E.M.S. starting back to Ace ambulance in Fairfield Ct as an E.M.T.  Director Test’s daily duties would include restock\resupply of all E.M.S.

Dyersburg Local 2269 Helps with Food Drive

 On Friday December 12, 2014 Dyersburg Local 2269 with assistance from Kroger collected food for their local food pantry. The local paper ran a story about their efforts. They collected 43 shopping carts full of items in 16 hours. Great job Local 2269 in representing your local and helping your community!! One woman was transported to Berkshire Medical Center with burns on her hands and feet in the wake of a fire at 27 Lincoln Street that badly damaged a two-family home Sunday morning In addition to the woman, whose condition was unavailable yesterday, three firefighters were also injured in the blaze, according to Acting Deputy Fire Chief Steven Peaslee.

Since good hearing is critical for firefighters, Wayne State University (WSU) is partnering with the Detroit Fire Department to identify the environmental/genetic risk factors that enhance the susceptibility to noise-induced hearing impairment. Several reports indicate that 40% of firefighters develop hearing impairment.
