To Serve and Protect

Branford Fire Department has a long history dating back to the late 1800's. It was a volunteer organization for 65 years. The first seven career firemen, previously volunteers, were hired in October of 1963. As training and staff increased the Branford Ambulance Department was added in 1992, making up the Branford Fire Department of today. With this rich history, the men and women of the department remain unwavering in their commitment to serve and protect the community. The fire and advanced life support service now completes an average of 1700 fire calls and 3500 medical calls each year (assisted by town volunteers).
