Be fire smart and help your friendly firemen. Be sure to talk to your parents about ways you can help. Here are some tips:

  • Don’t play with fire anywhere - in bedrooms, in closets and under beds. These are “secret” places where there are a lot of things that catch fire easily.
  • Don’t touch matches and lighters and tell your parents if you find them.
  • Develop a home fire escape plan, practice it and go to your meeting place outside.
  • Remember: fire is a tool, not a toy.
  • Fire is FAST, HOT, DARK and DANGEROUS!
  • But if you smell smoke or see fire get out quickly and call for help. Firefighers are your friends and they want to help!
  • Crawl low on the floor, below the smoke, to get out of the house and stay out in the case of fire.
  • Stop, drop to the ground and roll.
  • Remember the sound of your smoke alarm!
