A Letter from the Union President

  
As a first term Local 2533 Union President, I am proud to devote my time and skill to the Branford Professional Firefighters. We are a small group of career firefighters, many of which are licensed in providing advanced life support (paramedics). As a service driven organization, it is our mission to provide the highest level of care not only as firemen but also as members of the community.Our brotherhood consists of public educators, firefighters and technical rescue personnel who provide quality life safety, health care, property conservation, and environmental preservation for our community in a safe, timely, and effective manner. We are dedicated to protect the community and property by devoting time and skill to incident response, public education, and code enforcement.

We have long history of community service as well as charitable contributions that include outreach programs, fire safety education, and fundraising events.

Our organization shall have as its aim and purposes the following:

  • To unite fraternally for social, benevolent and intellectual improvement of the members of the Branford Professional Firefighters Association.
  • To establish funds for the benefit of its members.
  • To afford moral, material aid and relief to its sick and disabled members and their dependents.

Our union strives to have a harmonious working relationship with the Town of Branford. Health and safety of our members is promoted through negotiations as well as a wage and benefits package which is fair based on services performed by personnel with similar requirements in surrounding communities.

We will work to continually improve our knowledge of the profession and our performance to support the health and welfare of the union members. As a result, investments have been made to upgrade technology used for structural firefighting, which includes LED flashlights and two-way radios.
